The temperature was 35 and the wind was blowing at 35 mph when we arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  It was quite a change from the warm sun and 70 degree temperatures we had experienced in Boston.  However we were determined to explore,so we bundled up and headed toward town.

We were surprised at the number of modern buildings in Halifax, and then we remembered that it was the capital of Nova Scotia.  We enjoyed visiting some of the older buildings, like the Granville Market, which is the oldest farmers market in North America.  Our next destination was the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site. which was an 18th century naval station. It was quite an effort to push Debi up the steep hill to the impressive fortress.  We went inside and started exploring the rooms inside the fort.  Accessibility was good in most areas. We really got a good feel of what it was like to live there on a cold winter day. It was much easier going down the hill and we explored the shops along the waterfront on our return to the ship.  The wind continued to blow so our visit to the Bay of Fundy was cancelled and we headed back to New York.
