Lake Padden is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts of all types. A trip around the 2.4 mile path will put you in the midst of all the activity on warm summer days or you can enjoy the solitude on crisp fall afternoons. The walk can be done throughout the year and each season has it's own charm. You can even try your luck at fishing.
There is parking and accessible restrooms at both the north and south ends of the lake. The packed gravel path is fairly level, with the exception of a moderate section that goes through the trees on the west side of the lake. The tall trees make you forget that the city is only blocks away.The path passes by ball fields and a picnic area on the east shore of the lake. It is a great place to see the leaves changing color in the fall. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to compete the loop. There are plenty of activities in nearby Bellingham.
Directions; Take exit 246, south of Bellingham. Go north on Samish Way 2.4 miles to the park entrance. The north parking lot is .3 miles further north on Samish Way.
