This website is dedicated to the memory of my wife,Debi, nicknamed the bear. It is a story of love and devotion between two people who were determined to live life to it's fullest despite Debi's 25 year battle with Spinocebellar Ataxia, a degenerative neurological disease that has no cure. The website describes the adventures we shared over the past ten years after Debi became confined to a wheelchair.
Hopefully our story will provide inspiration and information that will motivate others with disease or disabilities to seek out their own adventures, big or small. It's not so much where you go, but what you experience when you go that matters. A positive, active approach to managing an illness plays a big part in maintaining a good quality of life. Our story can be viewed one adventure at a time or as a guide for finding accessible activities. It also serves to increase awareness of Ataxia and hopefully will inspire others to contribute to the effort to find a cure for this disease.
Creating this website and re living our adventures has been a big part of my grieving process and has helped motivate me to continue my efforts to help others with disabilities. I look forward to receiving input from readers to continue to grow the website in the future. Please feel free to contact me with your adventure stories, feedback and favorite places at larryhadair@gmail.com. I will post them.
