It was a perfect sunny Mediterranean morning when we arrived at the Greek island of Corfu.  It was our first view of the distinctive Greek architecture and the brilliant white buildings stood out against the deep blue sky.We got up early and headed out on our tour to explore the 45 mile long island.

The bus climbed the winding road into the hills high above the stunning coastline.  We arrived at the Bella Vista Hotel, which was perched on the edge of a steep hillside overlooking the ocean.  We sat on the deck and had some tasty baklava for breakfast.  It was difficult to get up and leave that little piece of heaven.  It was literally the high point of our tour.  Benitses beach was a short drive down the hill and we eagerly basked in the warm sun next to the clear, turquoise waters. We bought some souvenirs from vendors along the side of the beach.

Our next stop was a Kumquat factory where we sampled delicious jams and jellies.  We continued on across the island past cypress and olive trees to Corfu town.  We viewed historic churches and statues on our tour through the town. We.  enjoyed the view of the small fishing boats resting in the harbor as we returned to the ship.
